Ruth Langsford was feeling upbeat and refreshed after a trip to a luxury salon – and she wasn’t going to let grumbling social media followers try to kill her vibe
Ruth Langsford has snapped at one of her fans who criticised her for flaunting her wealth at a luxury hair salon.
The 64-year-old television presenter treated herself to a day at a salon owned by world-leading colour expert Josh Wood.
She revealed that she would usually visit Josh at his West London salon, but as it was closed for a refurb, she went to his salon at the five-star Claridges hotel instead.
Thrilled with the work Josh did, and clearly feeling herself after getting her hair lightened to a natural-look blonde, Ruth shared highlights from her trip to the salon via her Instagram page. A video showed the star waltzing into the studio and taking a seat while the colour expert got to work.
She flashed a pleased smile as she sat with products in her hair and was given coffee while she waited for the colour treatment to take effect. The salon team washed through the products, gave her a head massage, and then styled her radiant new locks.
Sharing the video to her main grid, Ruth wrote: “HIGHLIGHTS TIME! @joshwood salon in Notting Hill is being refurbished so I went to see him at his salon in @claridgeshotel Very fancy!! Thank you Josh, Dylan @cheyenne.bleux & @cherylmunozhair for a lovely experience and for all the lols! Feeling lighter & brighter! #highlights #blonde #hair.”
But some fans were critical of Ruth flaunting her expensive day out when many are struggling. One unimpressed follower lashed out at Ruth, writing: “You are so lucky. Most people could not afford that.” But she hit back, writing: “Not luck….I’ve worked hard for everything I have.” Her blunt reply left some followers concerned, with one asking in response: “@ruthlangsford is that really you replying? It doesn’t sound like you.”
Others defended the Loose Women star, with one hitting out in support to type: “Wow to the keyboard warrior and trolls. Your money. Your hair. Your life. Do with it as you wish. This new colour and style looks great on you. I love the waves. Keep being you.” To which Ruth replied: “Water off a duck’s back!” alongside a crying-with-laughter emoji.
While Claridges do not disclose the costs of the hair treatments offered by Josh at his in-hotel salon, his Holland Park branch lists a full head of highlights as costing up to £490 – while other tint work can cost as much as £575, while extensions can set clients back as much as £1,750.
Ruth’s glamorous make-over may help her move on from the collapse of her marriage to fellow TV host Eamonn Holmes, 64. The couple have been married since 2010 but shocked their fans in May when they announced they had separated. Confirming their decision through a representative, the couple said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
